BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES OF GIVING TO THE CHURCH

  1. Giving Honours God
The Bible teaches us to honour God with the resources He has entrusted to us. When we give, we acknowledge that everything we have comes from Him.
“Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.” – Proverbs 3:9
  2. Giving Supports the Work of the Church
In the early church, believers gave so that the ministry could flourish and the needs of the people could be met. When we give, we enable the church to continue its mission—spreading the Gospel, caring for the community, and creating a place of worship and discipleship.
“All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.” – Acts 2:44-45
  3. Giving Strengthens Our Faith
Giving is an act of trust. It teaches us to rely on God as our provider rather than holding tightly to our resources. The Bible promises that as we give with open hearts, God will take care of our needs.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
  4. Giving Sows into the Future
The principle of sowing and reaping is seen throughout Scripture. When we give generously, we invest in God’s Kingdom and help ensure that His work continues for future generations.
“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6
  5. Giving Reflects God’s Generosity
God is the ultimate giver—He gave us life, salvation, and every blessing we enjoy. When we give, we reflect His heart and become conduits of His generosity.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…” – John 3:16
